More Than Just Oils

In our daily life we use more than just essential oils. We have changed our diet and removed wheat and we are using fresh organic herbs that we are growing our self or buying from an organic source. Don't get me wrong I like my oils but I like my herbs better. They really awaken the pallet. So I encourage you to experiment with fresh herbs in your cooking. I promise you you will not want to go back to processed foods.

Fly-Be-Gone

I don't know about you but with all the rain we have had the flies and mosquitoes are horrible around the dog. We went from rainy and 70 to 90+ and the flies are about to carry the poor baby away. Well I couldn't stand it anymore. The stuff I bought that was suggested for barns wasn't working so I went in search of oils that repelled flies. Here is my recipe...I call it Fly-Be-Gone

15 drops each of Lemon, Rosemary, Citronella and Lavender mixed with 1/2 of distilled water and spray the dog and dog house.

Best of all it doesn't drive the dog crazy like most sprays and I didn't have to worry about him licking himself afterwards. And it smells pretty good too :-)

Organic Antibiotics

I was thrilled when I saw this article - Organic Antibiotics - I am hoping as more and more people become aware and move to natural / organic antibiotics we will not have so many super bugs.

Soapbox warning...

I noticed over the years when our boys were little that stuff they got like strep throat never reacted to antibiotics the same way twice. It was like it always took two rounds of antibiotics to get rid of it and the second round was always stronger. I am sure there are other "infections" out there that have mutated and now requires mega drugs. We see this in the flu every year.

We need to take back our health.

Taming the Inner Wolf

Several weeks ago hubby's inner wolf tried coming out and it wasn't nice either. All it did was snap and snarl at everyone. Well wifey (me) had had enough of being growled at so I went in search of oils to bust this black mood up and I came up with my "Taming the Inner Wolf"

1 part Bergamont
1 part Clary Sage
1 part Geranium
1 part Lemon
2 part Ylang Ylang
2 parts Peace & Calming
1 part Citrus Fresh
1 part Grapeseed oil

Mixed together in an empty glass bottle and applied liberally when the snarling started. Now the when the wolf comes out it is doused with oil and it slinks back into its den. LOL

Seriously, though this stuff was wonderful. It even works with me when I get in a snit.

Thieves Essential Oil

Ever wanted a go to for everything oil? Well Thieves is fast becoming my go to for just about everything. From the scraps and cuts hubby gets at work to krazy glued fingers. Yes Thieves is awesome. I use it in my tooth powder - baking soda, salt, Thieves and Lemon essential oils and I am good to go, no more gagging on the foaming toothpaste. Thieves, salt and warm water is a great mouthwash / gargle. Diffuse Thieves at night to keep the nasties away. Thieves, coconut oil and aloe make a great hand sanitize gel.  Thieves and Panaway in bath salts help with those achy muscles from colds and flu, I was just using Krazy glue to glue something back together and got it on my fingers. I had a bottle of Thieves sitting on my computer desk so I rubbed a little on my fingers and they came apart. Which I am grateful for because I am out of fingernail polish remover.

Oregano

As I was looking through my oils tonight trying to decided which one I would share information on I saw my bottle of Oregano. Yes Oregano, it for more than cooking :-)

Its medical properties are extensive. It is an anti-aging agent, powerful antiviral, antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immune stimulant, anti-nociceptive, radio-protective, liver protectant. It is used for arthritis pain, rheumatism, respiratory infectious diseases, infections, tuberculosis, digestive problems.

Oregano has been know to remove skin tags as well help heal. I will say this DILUTE IT! If you use it in neat (aka straight) form it will burn so dilute it at least 1:1.

Yep, I would say it is for more than just cooking.
