I enjoy cooking from scratch, quilting, scrapbooking and finding things in the thrift stores and giving them a new life. I hardly ever buy anything new. I had rather have a good ol’ hand-me-down that has been around than the newer stuff that falls apart in just a week or so. You see I am the mother of 3 boys and I learned really quick new is not always better. Although the boys are grown and off to college I still like to find a gem in a thrift store and restore it.
I am captivated by the pioneer lifestyle and strive to live a simple life even in this dog eat dog world that we live in. I was a child during the 60s so I have seen the arrival of color TV, cell phones, computers, laptops, microwaves, and much more actually more than I care to think about. I remember getting up in the mornings eating breakfast and heading outside to stay until the porch light came on. We road our bicycles without shoes or helmets, skated with out elbow or knee pads and drank from the garden hose.
Through this blog I will share simple recipes that fill empty bellies and hollow legs of teenage boys for little money. I will share gardening secrets that I learn. I will also share ways to turn someone else’s junk in to a treasured family piece. I will also encourage you to live a frugal lifestyle and share my secrets of having a well stocked pantry.
Just to give you fair warning I am from the deep south where we like our tea sweet, our fish fried and we say Hi Y’all and Y’all come back now ya hear. We are deep rooted in our faith and cling to our guns.
So pull of a seat there and join me on the front porch of my life and enjoy a class of ice cold tea...sweet tea that is….
