So I had a duh moment last night when we got home from work. Ants have taken over the few containers I have outside with cucumbers in them and I was having trouble keeping them watered. As we pulled into the drive way last night it hit me. Ok so nothing literally hit me but I realized one way to keep the ants out of my pots and keep them watered…a child’s wadding pool. You know the round hard plastic ones. Well I am on the search for a couple I am going to pot everything in the black plastic pots you get when you buy large bushes or trees. I have a secret supplier, my husband works on the grounds crew at a college and he can get those by the dozen. I have 2 dozen sitting in my front yard now just waiting to be filled with soil. Any way I am going fill them with garden dirt and set them in the swimming pool so all I have to do is add water to the pool in the morning before I go and on the really hot days add some when I get home from work…Hot Dog problem solved. I may have a container garden after all.
