Freezer Friendly…

Another freezer friendly recipe is spaghetti. I will share my husband’s recipe with you if you promise not to tell. We make this in large batches and then freeze in 2 cup portions. I also use this in my stuffed shell recipe that I posted yesterday. We cook this in the crock pot all day.

1 pound ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage
1 large red onion
1 large white onion
3 cloves minced garlic
1 teaspoon dried of parsley
1 teaspoon dried of oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 large can (28oz) crushed tomatoes
2 15 oz cans of diced tomatoes (do not drain)
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 large green bell pepper diced
1 potato

Brown ground beef and sausage drain (I rinse the meat with hot water before adding it to the crock pot to remove grease) and add to crock pot, sauté garlic and onions until just about tender add to meat. Add mushrooms, bell pepper, seasonings and tomatoes to crock pot and stir. Scrub potato leaving skin intact, cut in half and add to crock pot. The potato will absorb the acid that causes indigestion. Set crock pot to low and cook for 8-10 ours. Now I skim any additional grease from the meat off during cooking and discard it.

Either serve or let cool and divide into portions sizes for your family and freeze. If you can this also cans great.
