Reflections of 2012

Normally I do not post political rants but today as I reflect on 2012 I can’t help but wonder if we have not become a nation of idiots that are too stupid and too morally degenerated to self-govern. Maybe we do need to require IQ test in order to vote.

I know I know but hold the rotten tomatoes for just a moment. Let’s look at some stats here. I think it was something like 94% of the “Hill” was re-elected – (I think these numbers are correct) It was something like 21 of 22 incumbent senators were re-elected, and 353 of 373 incumbent members of the House were re-elected. They had a lower approval rating that President Bush when he left office. Oh and let’s not forget that the current president was re-elected. For the next two years we will have to deal (yet again) with a dysfunctional government whose spending is putting our children’s children in debt. Heck I doubt my grandchildren will even have the benefits and freedoms that I currently enjoy and take for granted. We cannot continue down this road of destruction.  I am afraid the US that we knew it as children and that our fathers and grandfathers, brothers and uncles fought for is no longer.

2013 does not look very promising. As a matter of fact it is looking downright scary. I am afraid that unless we fall on our faces and cry out for mercy, grace and forgiveness we will no longer be a free nation. It amazes me how we think we can live how we want to and not expect retribution. Look at the cycle that Children of God suffered in the Old Testament. God allowed for them to be carried off into slavery because they disobeyed and turned from God. What will He allow to happen to us? Are we above reproach? I think not…we are in the 11th hour we must confess, we must repent and we must turn back to God.
